T2 AG ATHLETE LIZ PINCHES GOES FULL TIME
Liz has competed in endurance sport for 20 years initially as a rower and a triathlete for the last 9 years. Liz epitomizes the competitive age group athlete balancing a busy consultancy career with long and unsociable hours and dreams of multisport greatness.
After overcoming a career threatening hip injury during last season she bounced back from surgery to podium earlier this year at the Abu Dhabi Triathlon (Report here) and was voted IM TALK ‘Athlete of the Month.’
With the opportunity to take a sabbatical until Sept 2012, Liz decided to see how she could do as an athlete without having to balance a high pressure working role with athletic pursuits.
Liz said “Its an experiment, I don’t expect to be able to earn money from sport, but then again… never say never. Who knows what you can accomplish when the constraints are taken away, so this is my chance to just ‘scratch that itch’ and see what is possible when you give it 100%.
I’ll be under the careful guidance of my coach Tom who has been a huge influence on my performance this year. I have seen more performance improvement in the 4 months since being coached by Tom than I’ve seen in the past 5 years”
Liz’s next race is 70.3 Italy where she is aiming to qualify for the 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas.
